Sound Raptor
What is it about?
Initially born to serve the demands and requirements of composer/producer Jacques Mignault (Groove 55), Sound Raptor is a true breakthrough in terms of speed and workflow for recording. Having worked on twenty albums with artists like Jean Claude Béliveau, Peter Dowse, Mino Cinelu and Rick Braun, Jacques often dreamed of a app that would allow recording a jam session, a musical idea or a live show, without spending an hour configuring a DAW.
App Store Description
Initially born to serve the demands and requirements of composer/producer Jacques Mignault (Groove 55), Sound Raptor is a true breakthrough in terms of speed and workflow for recording. Having worked on twenty albums with artists like Jean Claude Béliveau, Peter Dowse, Mino Cinelu and Rick Braun, Jacques often dreamed of a app that would allow recording a jam session, a musical idea or a live show, without spending an hour configuring a DAW.
Sound Raptor was created exactly for this purpose.
Capture the Moment
One click and you're good to go:
Haven't you ever dreamed of having a big red button in the studio, and when you click it every input of your studio is recorded immediately, without any effort ? Audio as well as MIDI is recorded stratight to the disk, in the manner of stems. You can listen to those stems immediately in the Playback scetion of the app, and manually import these stems directly into your choice of DAW.
Sound Raptor records in your audio card's chosen sample rate. A monitor mix is possible when you are recording.
You may even assign an Instrument plugin on a MIDI track, the output of which will be recorded in MIDI as well as a WAV file. This is really fun if for instance you are using a loop plugin like a drum instrument of the likes of loopers such as Spectrasonics RMX.
The app has three main sections:
The Recorder section is where all the magic happens. All the inputs of your studio or your stage can be streamed to your hard disk immediately. If for instance you have set the Custom Files Folder to say a folder on iCloud or Dropbox or such, all you work can be instantly shared with anyone.
The Playback section of the app allows you to listen immediately to the recording you just made. There is even an Overdub checkbox that lets you record a new set of stems right over the ones you just recorded, in the form of incrementally numbered file names.
The Cloud section is comprised of a full-blown cloud storage solution that supplies ways of sharing your ideas with your friends either with someone using the Sound Raptor, or even just with a browser. The Sound Raptor cloud can create multitrack players for the web or even a simple playlist for an album like experience you can embed in your own web site.
Simplicity First... but diversity follows:
From a simple press of a button, your audio and MIDI setup is captured instantly. But once you've got the stems, there are many things you can do.
- Use the app on a Mac or on iOS.
- Listen to the recording immediately.
- Add effects and bounce a quick mix.
- Rename sessions to your liking.
- Delete unused files.
- Create an empty session.
- Import files into a session.
- Export files to another folder.
- Upload you session to the cloud (up to 10 GB for free always).
- Share a cloud session with friends with Sound Raptor or on the web.
- Have someone listen with our web based multitrack player.
- Share a list of mixes or masterings in our web based playlist.
