Athletes training for speed need to monitor velocity during workouts

SprintCalc

by Adrien Lamothe

What is it about?

Athletes training for speed need to monitor velocity during workouts. Calculating velocity requires you to first take time and distance readings. Different methods are used to do this: cones, video recording, sophisticated and expensive timing systems, and there are iOS apps which enable you to use iOS devices to track time. Once you have those time readings, calculations are required to analyze how they relate to performance goals at racing distances. This app easily performs those time consuming, complex calculations, giving you insight into your training velocities. You can input three types of velocity readings using this app:

Athletes training for speed need to monitor velocity during workouts. Calculating velocity requires you to first take time and distance readings. Different methods are used to do this: cones, video recording, sophisticated and expensive timing systems, and there are iOS apps which enable you to use iOS devices to track time. Once you have those time readings, calculations are required to analyze how they relate to performance goals at racing distances. This app easily performs those time consuming, complex calculations, giving you insight into your training velocities. You can input three types of velocity readings using this app:

- 10m fly time.
- Distance and time.
- MPH or KPH, used when you sprint on a treadmill displaying that value.

The app calculates performance times for 60m, 100m, 200m, 400m and also shows the average 10m fly time, based on the input. The app has a convenient conversion function if you measure distances using US Standard units of measure (feet and yards.)

Some athletes train for speed on specialized treadmills when weather prevents training outside. This app will calculate performance using the MPH or KPH you input from the treadmill speedometer reading.

Save and edit your performances for future reference. Autosave mode saves every calculation.

Select the starting block toggle button to indicate interval readings from a starting position.

The app's information section explains sprint phases and how a reading relates to actual performance.
