App Store Description
Ben Franklin, in his autobiography, wrote of thirteen virtues, and described a system by which one could build those virtues as habits in oneself over a thirteen-week period.
Starfish Virtues implements his system as described, on your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, and Mac.
- Set a start date (which must be a Sunday), and the app will guide you along, highlighting the current week and completed days.
- Each week, focus on one virtue, while still tracking all of them - this lets you see, as Ben put it, that, "while my care was employ'd at guarding against one fault, I was often surprised by another". Your goal is to have a clean row for that week's virtue, "leaving the other virtues to their ordinary chance".
- Each night, examine your day, tapping the day's cell for "every fault ... to have been committed respecting that virtue upon that day". Each tap produces a dot, so you can mark multiple offenses.
- The board for the thirteenth week should be much clearer than the board for the first week was.
Unlike Ben's "little book", your Virtues app:
- Syncs via iCloud to all your devices
- Supports dark mode
- Highlights the current week and past days automatically
- Doesn't require a candle to see at night
