Strathcona County Fire Fighters became affiliated with the International Association of Fire Fighters on September 16, 1975. The local originally consisted of 16 members.
Our members work out of 3 stations, with the 4th slated to open May 8th, 2013, providing advanced life support ambulances, fire suppression and rescue services.
Our emergency response members are trained as fire fighters, and are also, registered paramedics and EMT's . The alarms ring in the hall and we respond in the appropriate vehicles for the response, often working as a team at vehicle collisions requiring extrication and EMS. The same can be said at structure fires. Our fire fighters can provide suppression and rescue efforts while providing a high level of medical care without waiting for a separate service.
Our dynamic and ever evolving department is proud to provide the highest level of service to the community. Over the past few years we have been building a Special Operations Teams, Technical Rescue and Water Rescue Team.
