Tables Tennis is an exciting, competitive times tables game for two players, written by a Leading Maths Teacher of 17 years teaching experience.

Sit opposite your partner. Choose the times tables you wish to practise.

Then decide how fast you would like the game to be.

Fast Return Off:
If you would like 5 or 6 seconds to answer each question select ‘Fast Return’ off.
With ‘Fast Return’ off you get bonus points for speedy answers called ’Speed Smash’, the timer will always remain the same.

Fast Return On:
If you would like a really fast, exciting competitive game select ‘Fast Return’ on. Just like in the real Table Tennis, if you reply quickly your opponent gets less time. For example, if it takes you only 3 seconds to answer your question, youropmponent’s clock resets to a maximum of 3 seconds allowed. This gets very quick and exciting and sounds just like a normal Tables Tennis match.

Once you have answered 8 calculations correctly you have achieved a ‘Mega Rally’. In the ‘Mega Rally’ phase you must use the times table facts to calculate division facts, (the inverse of multiplication). In schools, once children become confident in their times table facts we expand on their Reasoning repertoire by asking them division facts based on this knowledge. If the rally comes to an end the players return to multiplication facts.

You get 3 serves each, so 6 rounds are played. The winner of the game is the player who has accrued the most points. It is possible to have the same points as your opponent, in this case the game is considered a draw.

Have lots of fun becoming fluent in your times tables.
