Augmented reality? Augmented inebriation!

Inns, bars, pubs... Watering holes of all kinds have long played a crucial role in art. They are places to relax and draw inspiration from. All around the globe, many an idea or even entire works of art have started out on beer coasters. The Robographic Circle, a machine-based drawing association founded by Tim Berresheim, has dealt with this phenomenon since the very first exhibition which featured its creations: A drawing robot plots drawings on beer mats which are then augmented and all of a sudden open up a world of additional images. Suspension of Sobriety!

These series of coasters have now been expanded to boast an ever-increasing amount of augmented reality contents. Now, thirsty pub patrons world-wide can enjoy their evening ritual of fuelling up on a whole new level – and with almost twenty new coaster designs courtesy of Tim Berresheim, it's hard to ignore what many art historians have long known: The best position is always right at the bar!
