Now children can play games with zoo animals from the storybook app The Adventures of Puppup: Lost at the Zoo. Puppup’s Zoo Games is a free game app that features:

• The same stunning illustrations as the book app.

• Matching game: Drag illustrated animals to the sounds those animals make.

• Catching game: Use iPad tilt accelerometer to catch Puppup in Julia’s backpack.

• Puzzles: Assemble scenes from the book. Completed puzzles are animated.

The educational benefits are:

• Matching games develop focus and critical thinking. Children listen to the sound of each animal then decide which animal makes that sound. Fine-motor skills are honed as they drag the animal to its sound.

• Puzzles enhance critical thinking and fine motor skills as children coordinate visual information like shape and colors of the puzzle pieces with the movement of their hands as they assemble the puzzle. Their efforts are rewarded by delightful animation of each puzzle.

• In the catching game, children develop hand-eye coordination as they tilt the iPad in an effort to catch Puppup. Children are challenged to fine-tune their hand movements based upon their estimation of Puppup’s speed and direction.
