App Store Description

The Daily Word was created to try and make the painful standardized test vocabulary review process easier and more enjoyable. We do not expect you to prefer vocabulary review to seeing a movie or going to a party. But, hopefully this app can push vocabulary review close to or above cleaning toilets and eating lima beans on your love list.

This app is designed for four different types of users:

LIFE LONG LEARNERS: individuals who just want to build a better vocabulary.
MIDDLE SCHOOL: Middle school students who want to lay the foundation for high school or prepare for the SSAT or ISEE.
HIGH SCHOOL: High school students who want to improve the depth of their vocabularies or prepare for the SAT or ACT.
GRAD SCHOOL: College students who want to get their vocabularies in game shape for the GRE or GMAT.

The hardest part about the vocab review process is pushing yourself to do a little bit of work each day. The temptation is to put it off and then cram the words right before the test. They say slow and steady wins the race, and that is certainly true when it comes to vocabulary review.

This is where we come in!

We named the app "The Daily Word", because each morning you will receive a notification with the Word of the Day. When you receive the notification, take a look at the word and see if it is a word that you know. If not, write a notecard for that word and add it to the vocabulary stack you are building on the side.

The Daily Word uses a simple 2 step process to build your vocabulary:

(1) Test yourself on a new word each day
(2) Practice Practice Practice - each day you receive several new practice questions you can use to test the current depth of your vocabulary.

Use the Word of the Day push notification as a daily reminder to do your vocabulary review.

We would urge you to build a notecard stack of words that you can study. If someone says a word you don't know, create a notecard for it. If you hear a word on the radio you don't know, create a notecard for it. If you see a word on a practice SAT, ACT, ISEE, SSAT, or GRE that you do not know, create a notecard for it, and, of course, if you come across a word you don't know within the app, create a notecard for it.

Use this notecard review system to build the deep vocabulary you seek. Do a little bit each day so that you can give the words the opportunity to work their way to your long term memory.

The Daily Word is fully optimized for retina display. So, not only does this app help you improve your vocabulary, it looks pretty on your device! :) As a wise man once told us, "If your vocabulary review app looks good, YOU look good." And who doesn't want to look good?

Join in on the fun and watch your vocabulary blossom!

Happy Studying!
