App Store Description
-Updated/released June 2015
-The finance app that uncovers Total Returns (includes dividends and interest) on over 10,000 global stocks, mutual funds, ETFs or indices, with history from 1990. Provides income and price charts as well as tabular output. The app is specifically built to bring out one of the most important dimensions of asset returns, which is Total Returns that include dividends or bond interest, exclusion of which can cause ranking inversion and under-allocation to low volatility assets..
-You can backtest your portfolio on the fly (stress testing) with total returns that include dividends / bond interest. See how your stocks would do say from 2007-2009.
-A special feature of this version is that it automatically charts a 'Combined' portfolio line for the tickers entered. Entering the same ticker twice will even enable you to see the dividend yield on your stock/ETF/Fund. Intuitive to use.
-Designed by a PhD (Finance), this app has had thousands of downloads since 2012, pls. see correctCharts.com for the idea, research and examples.
-The problem being rectified by the App has also been written up in the WSJ (Jul 2011).
-No tables, numbers, dividends, interest, splits or distributions to download - enter the ticker, the Start and End dates, toggle Dividends On/Off and hit Done! Allows comparison of 10 multiple tickers, at a time.
-Total Returns are useful for calculating income tax and investment taxes too. The App also lets you compare a security with itself so you instantly see the return differential [in the ON/OFF dividends mode, blue buttons on main screen]. Enter the same ticker twice.
-Some user requests for the iOS8 upgrade, 2015:
" Yes, I’m in finance. It’s an incredibly useful tool to be able to chart it this way. Thanks!" Wealth manager from Texas.
"Please, please, please tell me you're going to have a ReturnFinder version for iOS 8. This is the best app ever." CFA from Ohio.
"Is Return Finder getting an update to be co playable with iOs8? It's such a useful app!" Football Quarterback.
"This helps me build my portfolio and review investments: total return vs. yield vs. capital gains compared between investments and also combined into a portfolio."
"Thank you... As I said, I really like it and have not found an alternative." MIT alum.
-Google_Finance provides portfolio rollup for last 12 months and [Yahoo ] stock charts do not include dividends in total return or comparative return charts. Bloomberg has this graphing but costs about $20K/yr. You can go back to 1990 with this App.
-Additionally, in the Compare mode you can input multiple securities at the same time to see cumulative return charts and associated return numbers. You have the option to see charts inclusive or exclusive of dividends and interest (a.k.a. Total return or Price return). Just three screens and a few taps. Done!
***Entering an invalid / nonexistent stock ticker will not yield the desired output ... a simple way to check if the ticker is valid is to see if it exists on Yahoo finance.
***If any one of the tickers is invalid the Combined Portfolio line will not display, in that case exclude the ticker or shorten the time period and rerun.
***App is not designed to run on unofficial iOS devices.
***After entering a ticker or tickers, hit Next, not Swipe. Swipe between screens.
***{If for some reason the app is not for you, you can get a direct refund by following the logical steps here: https://reportaproblem.apple.com/ }
-The App has been downloaded in USA, Australia, Switzerland, France, Finland, Sweden, Mexico, Thailand, UK, China, Turkey, Israel, Portugal, Japan, India, Brazil, Germany, Taiwan, Greece, Canada, Denmark, Netherlands, Belgium New Zealand...), 35+ countries.
