What is it about?

This App is part of a multimedia installation outside Vari Hall at York University in Toronto, Canada, created for Toronto's 2022 edition of Nuit Blanche and can be seen on the artist's webpage after the event. Tributaries uses a mist screen projection and AR content of native and invasive species to mark and draw attention to the freshwater habitats of the York University campus area that were buried or rechanneled due to urban development. The animated projection and superimposed AR component show the biodiversity of the surrounding area to create an ethereal intermingling of native and invasive species.

Programmed by Archive/Counter-Archive as part of Biophilia: Artist and Archive Exhibition; Curated by Janine Marchessault.

* 'Biophilia' references a love of living things, and at the heart of the exhibition are more-than-human animals and our entanglements with them.
