Understanding Raven

'Understanding Linguistic Raven' to be precise.
or just Raven. is a Digital Creature, that helps you to translate spoken (like walkie-talking) or typed words and short phrases from/to a whole bunch of different languages.

It's mission is to further dissolve communication barriers that people have between each other. Any misunderstanding is not good, and is one of causes for conflicts or fighting and lack of friendship.

Remember good old Babel Fish from Hitchhikers guide to the Galaxy?
Modern technology has become powerful enough to make this happen.
While it's not fully there yet, and it's not picking up your brainwaves, just simple voice.... for now.
However Raven will grow into the `essence` of Babel Fish.
Which allows you to understand anyone, whatever languages they speak, in real time.

Yes, there are great translating apps out there already. In our experience, not many of them are easy and pleasant enough to use in everyday conversations. Raven is here to try to fix this problem. With your support, it is possible.

** Languages **

Currently it supports all major languages, as well as ancient ones, like Sanskrit, Old Norse, Old English and Latin (!)
It is also good with various less common languages, dialects and sub-languages. For example. Navajo and Hawaiian.
Pirate-English language be also available for ye.


** Technology **

Raven is powered by two OpenAI technologies, Whisper and ChatGPT3.5.

Whisper is a speech-to-text model, highly praised for its precision in understanding abilities.
When you speak - it just understands. ...noisy environments, weird pronunciations, singing, whispering. It's quite precise. 100% perfect is not possible, but it's close to it. And it can (and will be) further improved!

ChatGPT needs no introductions, except its hidden ability to seamlessly juggle between languages and provide natural translations to whatever text you throw at it.

NOTE: ChatGPT translations are limited to ChatGPT training data. Meaning, some less common languages might not provide an accurate translations to modern phrases due to low number of public texts available (ex. Navajo). Also from time to time it trips out and burps something weird, there is no direct way to confirm quality of translation, so please use it as a reference only, and please let us know if Raven is not behaving to your expectations (via Settings -> Contact Developer).
