Viz-Schedule
What is it about?
One of the problems facing parents of young children is to establish and maintain a schedule. Many parents, therapists, and teachers use a visual schedule, which lets the children see upcoming activities to help with transitions. The normal visual schedule contains pictures of activities attached to a poster and the child can move activities to the completed side, giving a sense of accomplishment. However, this approach has its problems. It’s not portable, there is nothing to remind the child to move to the next activity, and it can be a very time-intensive craft to create a new activity. This limits its use with preparing a child for something out of the normal routine, such as going to the dentist.

Viz-Schedule is a solution to these problems while keeping the benefits. Through a user friendly design where the user can see completed and upcoming activities. The user can also mark activities as complete and can see remaining time for an activity. For the parent, therapist, or teacher, Viz-Schedule offers a streamlined user interface, making it possible to create a schedules and activities quickly. Viz-Schedule has a timer function, each activity can automatically tell the child that time is up and it is time to transition to the next activity. The child can then easily go to the next activity. If the child can not read, Viz-Schedule can speak the name of the activity to the child, allowing them to move to the next activity independently, increasing self-reliance. Of course, sometimes children aren’t done with an activity when time is up. For these situations, there is a snooze ability that can be used with the activities. Of course, no one wants a device to be used for one app, so Viz-Schedule can run in the background. When the time is up for the current activity, a notification is sent, reminding the child to return to Viz-Schedule so that they can mark that task as done.
Tasks, activities, and schedules can be quickly changed to meet changing needs of the child. There is an assortment of built-in activities, from brushing your teeth to getting on the bus for school. Additional tasks are easily created using your photo library or camera. Tasks are not tied to a particular schedule, they can be easily added to any schedule. The time allowed for an activity is saved in the schedule, and every task name can be overridden in a schedule to make it easier to re-use a task, saving time.
The free version of Viz-Schedule is limited to a maximum of 5 schedules, and each schedule is limited to 5 tasks. Through an in-app purchase, the app is upgraded to having an unlimited number of schedules with an unlimited number of tasks.
