App Store Description

WxAlert is a mobile application that provides current, forecast and alert weather information for more than 20,000 cities across the United States and its territories. Current, forecast and alert information are displayed using various weather and alert icons.

The app has a collection of approximately 100 icons which provide weather forecast, alerts, watches and warnings. Weather alerts, watches and warnings include flooding, rip current, freeze, blizzard, winter storm, red flag, high wind, high surf, avalanche, thunderstorm, tornado, hurricane, and excessive heat. An extensive description of app features and icons can be found at the app support website.

It is important to note that the app does not provide push notification alerts. Instead, when the app is active it periodically checks the weather service for posted notifications. Periodic checks are made in auto or manual mode. In auto mode, weather alert checks are made every 1 - 4 hours depending on the severity of the forecasted weather. For example, a forecast of thunderstorms sets periodic alert updates to 1 hour, while sunny conditions sets it to 4 hours. In manual mode options are available for alert updates in the range of 1 - 12 hours.
