xRapid-Lab, the automated counter for malaria cultures, supports all researchers working on lab culture of Plasmodium species with this new tool to count parasites and red blood cells faster.
xRapid-Lab is an automated system to count parasites and red blood cells in Plasmodium cultures, saving time and money. Using an iPhone attached to the microscope, the xRapid-Lab app captures and analyses images from thin smear blood slides. It gives, in less than 2 minutes, the parasitemia, the parasite development stages and the red blood cells count. xRapid-Lab provides a detailed report for each of the samples tested, and as a result an easy way to track synchronous or asynchronous cultures.
Features:
designed to work with most microscopes with 1000x oil-immersion lens and a LED lighting
local digital image analysis and artificial intelligence engine: no internet connection required
less than 1 second to capture and analyze one field, 1 to 2 minutes per slide depending on the level of accuracy required
identifies and counts all stages of Plasmodium falciparum: young rings, rings, mature trophozoites, early and mature schizonts, gametocytes
possibility to customize the erythrocytic stages limits
count by fields of view (up to 100) or by red blood cells (up to 10’000), standard deviation on parasite count lower than 5% at 10’000 RBCs with an adequate slide
displays field and global count during the data acquisition
custom archiving of images (all, all with informations, none)
exports results to various formats, including PDF and CSV
all results archived in the test log, as a date-ordered lab book
custom or default sample identification, together with a comment
proven to be independent of the microscopist
iPhone cases and/or microscopes guidance available upon request
xRapid-Lab is under constant development, particularly regarding Plasmodium species. Please feel free to contact us with with specific requests or comments.
