Yarn Up Feel Deadly
What is it about?
Yarn Up Feel Deadly is an innovative app developed by Aboriginal Mental Health Service & workforce to assist in providing useful information about accessing Mental Health Services in HNELHD for Aboriginal and Non Aboriginal consumers and help bridge the gap between staff and community. It is envisaged the app will enhance consumer engagement by providing a culturally considerate resource with a particular focus on Aboriginal communities and connecting Aboriginal people to mental health services as well to each other by learning from their lived experience. The app also has “The Warrior Within” video testimonials of Aboriginal and Non Aboriginal peoples mental health experiences. The collaborative approach originated from an Aboriginal Mental health’s staff members grandmother who often shared her knowledge of culture and traditional ways as do many Aboriginal Elders to co design mental health service and ensure meaningful initiatives are implemented for problems identified in mental health service delivery for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and their communities.
