App Store Description

Zen: Awakening to Well-Being is for everyone who is interested in developing the Zen mind of acceptance, naturalness, and resilience.

Zen has come to the west in waves across the Pacific Ocean, from Japan, China, Korea, and Vietnam.

Each wave looks a bit different and washes differently on the shore, but each has the same salty taste of seawater. Figuratively speaking, that taste is the essence of Zen that these guided meditations cultivate.

That essence is not to be found in wearing robes of a certain colour, reciting texts in foreign languages, sitting in the lotus pose, sleep deprivation by sitting all night, or in formal ceremonies. The essence of Zen is in realizing our inherent oneness with the mind of nature.

That may need some explication: We usually think of the mind as a function of the brain, and the body as the rest of us. Zen turns this upside down, and considers the body as part of the mind of nature. In turn. what we call mind, Zen considers as a source of abstractions, generalizations, judgments, and imaginings. Indeed, our body is more intelligent than our mind: a human body can make a baby which is infinitely more complex than the cars and computers that the human mind can make. The mind of nature created and maintains 8.7 million species, including us.

Nature is not only out there as trees, flowers and butterflies. The beauty, radiance, and the paradoxes of nature are also in each of us.

You may nod in agreement as you read this.

The 7 guided meditations in this app are designed to turn that intellectual nod into a gut feeling and a conviction.

They systematically explore the relevance of the insight of oneness to different areas such as peaceful sleep, less stress, and more loving relationships.

Practice often with these meditations in order to overcome old habits and create new ones.

Each meditation is about 8 minutes long, but if things are going well, continue sitting longer.
