This is a futuristic science fiction role-playing game. Your character has come into the possession of a mysterious weapon of unknown origins and immense power. You have to figure out how to best use the Transistor to help you overcome obstacles in your path as you try to find the weapon's elusive former owners before they find you.
Why we love it
Transistor makes full use of the Siri Remote, but it's also MFi game controller compatible for a full console experience. The graphics are superb, the action is frenzied, and the sound effects and music are extremely well done. Transistor can give you the full console feel on your Apple TV.
For those who like interacting with mini worlds filled with interconnected mechanisms.
Lumino City s arguably the best game of the year. The game is beautiful, the music is outstanding, controls are simple to learn, the puzzles are terrific, and the story is rather captivating and immersive. This is a puzzle adventure that is worth every penny and highly recommended if you are a fan of the genre.
Why we love it
The graphics in Lumino City are stunning. A big reason behind this is the fact that everything that you see in the game was created by hand out of real-world materials. The entire game is based off of a real life model city that the developers created from scratch, and the results have paid off.
Breakneck is like pod-racing, but your life is on the line. Aliens have invaded your world, and are hunting you down. Your only hope for survival is to evade them and avoid obstacles along the unfamiliar terrain as you push your speeder to its limits.
Why we love it
Breakneck is insanely fast-paced, and well done. The graphics are console-quality, and the action is frenzied. Every aspect of the game has been well designed, from the physics engine to the soundtrack and sound effects. If you got excited by the pod-racing scene in "Star Wars I: The Phantom Menace," you'll love this game.
For those who like flowing platformers with great design and simple controls.
This casual gameplay title takes place under the sea where you, Mr. Crab, are trying to save the baby crabs from the likes of Blowfish Bob, Fernando Feathers and Herman the Hermit. Through careful timing and quick thinking, you can defeat or avoid the enemies and ascend to the top, your baby crabs in tow. Run, jump, and climb your way to the top, but watch out for the giant bosses that will try to knock you back down and keep you from getting the baby crabs to safety.
Why we love it
Mr. Crab features colorful graphics and fast-paced gameplay. It's easy to learn, but difficult to master. While the game does use in-app purchases, it doesn't require them to get the most out of the game. Just think of them as extras to make it a bit easier, but not necessary to win.
For those who like chaotic kart racing with speed, power-ups, and crazy courses.
This game is all about racing beach buggies off-road, and using all of the dirty tricks up your sleeve to come in first place. Whether it's laying down an oil slick or sending a frenzied rush of dodgeballs at your opponent, you'll do whatever it takes to lead the pack to the finish line. Each of your opponents, though, will have their own special abilities and power-ups to try bringing you down.
Why we love it
This game is fun, frenzied arcade action straight to your Apple TV. The cartoon-like graphics are gorgeously done, and the sound effects and background music are perfectly suited to the racing game. It's a great spin on racing, giving you a lot of off-road fun as you blaze through the beaches and villages in your kart.
For those who like new puzzle ideas, and shadow puppets.
Shadowmatic is one of the best you can grab so far this year. I am in love with the pragmatic visuals, the exclusive environments, ambient tunes, and simple controls. The progress bar works well in telling me if I’m close to solving it, though at times it just feels like I’m randomly spinning it around to light up the dots.
Why we love it
If you're looking for a game that is special and relaxing, Shadowmatic is for you. The shadows are sharp and contrast well with the rest of the surroundings, and it’s incredibly fun to watch the shadows morph into something new as you move the figures around. The animations are super smooth and the soundtrack is a joy to listen to, best experienced with a good pair of headphones.
For those who like challenging level based games with an infinite runner aspect to it.
Power Hover is a gorgeous psuedo-low-poly game that is driven by story and challenges. There are also a lot of hoverboarding robots and epic boss battles that you'll have to face off against, which only add to the awesomeness of the game. Essentially, you must travel through a desolate world on your hoverboard and collect the battery energy packs to help restore humanity to what it once was. But be careful — there are robots that are out to get you and bosses that want to stop you at all costs. You'll have to be smart and outwit them by defying gravity with your trusty hoverboard if you want to be successful on your mission.
Why we love it
Power Hover has a gorgeous art style and it's filled with challenging levels and hoverboard mechanics. Are you able to restore power to humanity?
For those who enjoy any type of racing, especially with stunts.
Riptide GP2 is a terrific water racing game for Apple TV. With simple controls you just tilt your remote to steer, tap to perform an awesome stunt, and even use a powerful boost to fly ahead of the other racers. The 3-D visuals are gorgeous and the funky tunes add to the experience.
Why we love it
For racing fans, Riptide GP2 brings a fast, fun, watercraft-flipping good time to Apple TV. Do back flips, front flips, and other cool stunts to earn XP. When you have mastered the twists, turns, and stunts, take on other racers and make some waves.
Back to Bed is a unique puzzler with wonderful 3-D graphics. Each dreamy world has soothing sounds to match. Be sure to move Subob stealthily but quietly so as not to wake Bob the sleepwalker. Just guide him back to his comfy bed safe and sound in this challenging and gorgeous game.
Why we love it
If you enjoy story-based puzzles that are both challenging and fun, then Back to Bed is perfect for you. You must use your problem-solving skills and think ahead before you make your moves. But, don’t wait too long otherwise poor Bob can fall to his demise.
For those who want one of the most deluxe gaming experiences on iOS, and like shooters.
Modern Combat 5 is a first-person shooter set in a modern-day environment where terrorists are trying to rule and governments are corrupt. Your task in the single player campaign is to figure out what's really happening. Meanwhile, the multiplayer mode pits you against the toughest soldiers gaming has to offer, with customizable specialists and amazing weapons.
Why we love it
This game has one of the finest multiplayer action available, and the single-player action is just as good. The graphics are amazing, and the sound effects will put you right in the game. You can make your character truly your own, both through choosing a class and customizing your soldier's skill set and weapons loadout.
Bugdom 2 is a cute adventure game for kids that lets them play the part of a grasshopper. The gameplay is relaxed so that your children can happily explore the world around them. They will help out animals and other insects while collecting items to assist them on their fun-filled journey.
Edge Extended is all about maneuvering a cube around a geometric universe. Each level contains various platforms, obstacles, and enigmas that challenge you to hone your reflexes and strategy to complete the puzzle. If you get your cube to the end of the puzzle, you can claim your fame. If you fail, though, you have to watch your cube shattered into thousands of pieces.
Why we love it
Edge Extended is a challenging game, but it has simple to learn controls. You will develop better reflexes and strategy skills as you progress through the levels. The game includes 48 levels, plus 15 bonus puzzles to keep you coming back for more.
For those who like open world exploration rather than specific set levels.
In The Deer God you must survive by interacting with characters and animals on your journey to stay alive. You will also search for helpful items, uncover mysterious secrets, and solve perplexing puzzles in a unique and amazing adventure. Level up your antlers and show the forest who is boss.
