Full New York Times Subscriber Access Coming This Week To Flipboard

June 25, 2012
Flipboard, a social news app inspired by print media, has just clinched an unprecedented deal with one of the foremost organizations of print media, The New York Times. Under the deal, subscribers of The New York Times are entitled to full access to the news and information organization's award-winning journalism right within Flipboard. Of course, content sourced from The New York Times — be it an article, a video, or a slideshow — is reformatted in accordance with Flipboard's signature magazine style. The partnership is unprecedented in that it presents a first for both parties. This is the first time that premium content is included in Flipboard. And this is also the first time that The New York Times has allowed its content to be fully accessible outside its own platform. Non-subscribers of The New York Times are not totally left out by the partnership. Like other digital versions of the newspaper, Flipboard is offering them the Top News section for free. The New York Times is slated to be delivered through Flipboard beginning Thursday, June 28. This exciting new development comes on the heels of Flipboard's highly anticipated launch on Android and integration with a number of popular services. Just recently, the app has added support for Google+ as well as support for audio and video from SoundCloud and YouTube. Flipboard is available in the App Store as a free universal iOS app. Likewise, The New York Times can be accessed through its free Newsstand apps for iPhone and iPad.
