Megatroid received much praise (and deservedly so) upon its debut at the very beginning of August. Now, just a month and a couple of weeks after its launch, Megatroid has already gained a substantial update that includes a brand new chapter and a bevy of improvements.

Inspired by Megaman and Metroid (Can’t you tell?), the iPhone- and iPad-optimized Megatroid has you playing as Hali. As Hali, you have to save the galaxy from the clutches of a machine empire known as The Imperium.

You are an intrepid member of GRiN (Galactic Rebel Information Network). And with the aid of S.P.A.K.K. (Self Propelled Aerial Kinematic Kitten), you have to release your rage against the machines and bring The Imperium down on its mechanical knees.

Thanks to its latest update, Megatroid has gained its second sci-fi adventure chapter. With this new chapter come ten new character levels, bringing the level cap to 20.

The following enhancements have also been added:

  • 3 new bosses
  • 3 new environments
  • 3 new enemy types
  • 6 new music tracks
  • Various New weapons and armor
  • Improved variety during stages
  • Improved performance

The new version of Megatroid is available now in the App Store for free.

Also a notable inclusion in the newly updated game is the ability to customize the placement of the control buttons. And with that, and much more, an already fantastic iOS platformer has become even more so.
