Merging Instagram With Polaroid, Socialmatic Camera Concept To Become A Reality

February 27, 2013
Remember Socialmatic from last year? You know, the conceptual camera that combines the digital world of Instagram and the analog world of Polaroid? Well, it's about to become a reality. That's because the rights to make and market products under the Polaroid brand have just been granted to Socialmatic LLC, the company founded by the person behind the concept, Antonio De Rosa. Specifically, the Polaroid brand, which is owned by PLR IP Holdings and marketed by C & A, will be attached to the upcoming camera. So, it shall be known as the Polaroid Socialmatic Camera. If you can't see the video embedded above, please click here. "We are so proud to work together with C & A and Polaroid, giants of digital photography,” says De Rosa, now CEO of Socialmatic. "It's been a long and difficult negotiation but we were strongly motivated to reach an agreement to create a small revolution in digital photography. This mix of Hardware and Software, together with our brand new photo social network will fill the gap between virtuality and reality." Slated for release in the first quarter of 2014, the Polaroid Socialmatic Camera will be equipped with Wi-Fi/3G connectivity and 16GB of onboard storage. It will also have a SC-HD slot for external storage. Essentially, the Polaroid Socialmatic Camera will be a point-and-shoot camera with support for photo filters and social media sharing. It will let you post photos taken with the camera on the Socialmatic network, email them, and share them on Facebook, Twitter, and of course, Instagram. Most interestingly, it will let you print out your photos right from the camera and share it IRL. Will you be getting your own Polaroid Socialmatic Camera as soon as it's out?
