The “phenomenal” point-and-click puzzle adventure game Machinarium has finally landed on iPhone and iPod touch, a couple of years after its launch in the App Store as an iPad-only title.

Machinarium makes its debut on the smaller iDevices in two ways. First, the original iPad edition has been updated to version 2.0 with, among other improvements, universal support for iPhone and iPod touch. And second, a standalone iPhone- and iPod touch-optimized title called Machinarium Pocket Edition has been released.

As we told you last week, Machinarium Pocket Edition comes with enhanced graphics, new Game Center achievements, and other features, including pinch-to-zoom for easier pointing-and-clicking.

Enhanced graphics for Retina devices, Game Center achievements, and pinch-to-zoom are also included in Machinarium 2.0.

And now that Machinarium supports iPhone and iPod touch as well as iPad, progress syncing via iCloud has been implemented across devices. But if you’re updating to Machinarium 2.0 from a previous version, note that your old saves will, unfortunately, not work. You can, however, use the Lost Save function within the game to partially recover your position.

Compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad running iOS 5.0 or later, Machinarium 2.0 is available now in the App Store as a free update or as a new $4.99 download.

Machinarium Pocket Edition, on the other hand, is available now in the App Store for the special launch price of $1.99 (the normal price is $2.99). It’s optimized for iPhone and iPod touch running iOS 5.0 or later.
