Apple Adds Kendrick Lamar And Supporting Acts To iTunes Festival SXSW Lineup

February 28, 2014
Apple has just added popular hip hop artist Kendrick Lamar to the lineup of headliners at its upcoming iTunes Festival at SXSW. As noted by The Loop, the company has also announced the supporting acts for the music festival, including ScHoolboy Q, Isaiah Rashad, Band of Skulls, and Capital Cities. Just yesterday, Apple announced that the seminal grunge band Soundgarden would also be part of the lineup in celebration of the 20th anniversary of "Superunknown," one of the band's most successful albums. First held in 2007, the iTunes Festival is a concert series sponsored by Apple. It has usually been held at The Roundhouse in London. But earlier this month, Apple announced that it would be bringing the festival to the U.S. for the first time at this year's SXSW. Dubbed iTunes Festival SXSW, the upcoming event will be held from March 11 to 15 at ACL Live at the Moody Theater in Austin, Texas. The iTunes Festival SXSW will also feature performances by Coldplay, Imagine Dragons, London Grammar, Pitbull, ZEDD, G.R.L., Keith Urban, Willie Nelson, and Mickey Guyton. The newly added Lamar will perform on the night of March 12. Check out the schedule below:
  • March 11: Coldplay, Imagine Dragons, London Grammar
  • March 12: Kendrick Lamar, ScHoolboy Q, Isaiah Rashad
  • March 13: Soundgarden, Band of Skulls, Capital Cities
  • March 14: Pitbull, ZEDD, G.R.L.
  • March 15: Keith Urban, Willie Nelson, Mickey Guyton
All five nights of the iTunes Festival SXSW will be available to enjoy for free as a live and on-demand stream via the official iTunes Store app for iOS and through iTunes on a Mac or PC. A special iTunes Festival app for iOS and Apple TV will also be available. For more information on the upcoming festival, visit itunes.com/festival.
