Soundgarden Will Appear At Apple's US iTunes Festival At SXSW
February 26, 2014
Soundgarden, one of the most influential bands of the 1990s, is set to perform at the iTunes Festival at SXSW. The band joins Coldplay, Imagine Dragons, and many others scheduled to appear at the first iTunes Festival in the United States.
Announced earlier this month, the iTunes Festival at SXSW runs March 11-15 in Austin, Texas. Taking place at ACL at the Moody Theater, the event will also feature London Grammar, Pitbull, G.R.L., Keith Urban, Willie Nelson, Mickey Guyton, and ZEDD.
Soundgarden, whose hit “Superunknown” debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard charts, disbanded in 1997. They reunited 12 years later. The band will perform on the third night of the event, March 13.
First held in 2007, the iTunes Festival is sponsored by Apple and has usually been held at London’s historic The Roundhouse in North London. Past performers have included Adele, Paul Simon, and the late Amy Winehouse. In 2013, the free event featured Justin Timberlake, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, and many others.
As in London, all five nights of the U.S. iTunes Festival will be available to enjoy for free as a live and on-demand stream via the official iOS app and through iTunes on a Mac or PC. A special iTunes Festival application on the Apple TV will also be available.
