The 2014 Winter Olympic Games are already underway in Sochi, Russia. But you can play your very own winter games right on your iOS device with Patrick Kane's Winter Games.
As its title suggests, Patrick Kane's Winter Games features the eponymous NHL superstar. Kane, of course, plays for Team U.S.A. in the game, but it also includes all of the internationally acclaimed national ice hockey teams from around the world. In fact, the game invites you to perform "faultless face-offs, slamming slap-shots and perfect poke-checks to bring down even the toughest of nations."
Patrick Kane's Winter Games has three game modes, namely, Face-Off, Winter Games, and the Rivals Series.
Face-Off mode offers instant action at it lets you hit the puck right away after choosing your team and opposition from 18 national teams. The Winter Games mode challenges you to take part in a competition hosted by Russia, where only one nation (hopefully yours) among 12 teams gets to nab the gold medal. And finally, the Rivals Series allows you to relive some of the greatest moments and rivalries in professional hockey history.
Compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad running iOS 4.3 or later, Patrick Kane's Winter Games is available now in the App Store for $2.99.
Patrick Kane's Winter Games is developed by Dead Runner creator Distinctive Games, which just last month came out with Football Kicks: Title Race. Unsurprisingly, like Football Kicks: Title Race, Patrick Kane's Winter Games runs on Distinctive Games' proprietary Phoenix engine, which makes for HD visuals, smooth performance, and realistic motion-captured animations.
