Watch an iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus being dropped, dunked and even frozen solid

September 22, 2014

While I’m still holding my new iPhone 6 Plus tighter than a newborn baby, more than a few videos show Apple’s latest handsets being tortured tested in pretty much every situation imaginable.

The first video comes from SquareTrade. Interestingly, the third-party insurance company puts both phones through a number of real-world situations.

Along with sliding the iPhones across plastic and wood, the company dunks the handsets in water for 10 seconds, and does a drop test from 4 feet. Click here if you can’t see the video.

I was definitely surprised about how well both iPhones handled the dunk test and how the iPhone 6 stood up to being dropped.

This test shows an iPhone 6 being dropped into a full sink of water. Click here if you can’t see the video.

And finally, just for fun, here’s a video from Rated RR of an iPhone 6 Plus being frozen in liquid nitrogen and crushed with a hammer in slow motion. Click here if you can’t see it.

At least they selected a gold model to destroy.

Earlier today, Apple announced that it sold more than 10 million handsets during the three-day launch weekend.
