Dictionary.com app updated with iOS 8 and iPhone 6 support plus improvements
Dictionary.com for iPhone has just been updated to version 5.0 with several significant improvements.
For both of the free and premium editions of the popular dictionary and thesaurus app, the new 5.0 update brings optimizations for iOS 8, native resolution support for iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, and new images for Word of the Day.
Of particular note is the app’s new Today widget in iOS 8′s Notification Center, which features the Word of the Day. But rather than simply showing the definition of the Word of the Day, Dictionary.com’s Today widget presents a mini quiz that asks you to guess the definition of the featured word before learning more about it in the app.
Dictionary.com 5.0 also includes improvements to iCloud syncing of favorites.
Plus, especially for the app’s premium edition, the update effectively unlocks all of its in-app content upgrades at no extra charge. These include example sentences, encyclopedia, four additional dictionaries, and more. These come, of course, on top of the premium edition’s ad-free interface.
Dictionary.com Dictionary & Thesaurus Premium is available on the App Store for $2.99, while the ad-supported Dictionary.com Dictionary & Thesaurus is available for free.
