“Hello. My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father; prepare to die!” … in The Princess Bride – The Official Game.

Over 27 years after its original release, “The Princess Bride” remains popular as a cult classic. So popular, as it turns out, that it has become the basis of a new iOS game.

The Princess Bride – The Official Game, as the game is officially called, is actually a collection of mini arcade games based on some of the most memorable action scenes in the eponymous romantic comedy fantasy adventure film. In all mini games, you play, of course, as Westley aka The Man in Black.

At launch, the game features four mini games. In one, you have to help Princess Buttercup survive the Shrieking Eels, while in another, you have to sword duel with Inigo the avenger. In yet another, you have to wrestle with Fezzik the giant, and in the remaining one, you have to climb the Cliffs of Insanity in pursuit of Vizzini the criminal genius and the rest. Take a look:

According to its developer, Gameblend Studios, the game is set to be updated with a fifth mini game where you have to cross the Fire Swamp with its fire spouts, lightning sand, and Rodents of Unusual Size.

Each mini game comes with its own leaderboards, challenges, and awards, along with official movie images and sound clips to be unlocked.

The Princess Bride – The Official Game features cartoon versions of Cary Elwes as Westley, Robin Wright as Buttercup, Mandy Patinkin as Inigo, André the Giant as Fezzik, and Wallace Shawn as Vizzini. It also features a musical score composed by the renowned jazz and rock saxophonist Mars Williams.

Compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad running iOS 6.0 or later, The Princess Bride – The Official Game is available now on the App Store for $3.99.

The game offers optional in-app purchases for obtaining miracle pills, which, as in the movie, are possessed of revival powers.
