Facebook Messenger update brings an iOS 8 share extension
Popular app Facebook Messenger has just been updated with an important addition for iOS 8 users.
In version 22.0, the new share extension allows users to send photos, videos, and links to Messenger without needing to leave other apps.
You will need to first turn on the extension. That can be done quickly and easily by selecting a photo from your Camera Roll. Then you’ll need to select the share sheet icon, which is a square with an upward facing arrow on the bottom left corner of your screen.
Once there, go to the second row and select “More.” Then go down to Messenger and toggle it to the on position. I’m glad to see Facebook finally add the share extension to Messenger. It’s one of my favorite iOS 8 features.
A universal app designed for the iPhone/iPod touch and iPad/iPad mini, Facebook Messenger can be downloaded now on the App Store for free.
The social networking giant also took the time to announce that it has reached more than 2 million active advertisers, up from the 1.5 million a year ago. To mark the occasion, the company has unveiled a new Facebook Ads Manager app for the iPhone.
With the free app, advertisers can track ad performance, edit existing ads, edit and budgets or schedules, receive push notifications, and even create ads.
Facebook Ads Manager is currently available for the United States but should be available worldwide in the next few weeks.
