The official Pebble Time companion app arrives for iPhone users

The wait is over for Pebble Time iPhone users. Apple has approved the official companion app for the new smartwatch, and it is available now to download here. It may take a few hours for the app to appear in the App Store for your country.

Apple has also approved a new update to the original Pebble Smartwatch app. That app is for Pebble and Pebble Steel users.

Pebble announced the news on its Kickstarter page for the new device:

We thank Apple for honoring the people who love both their Pebble watches and Apple devices. Apple’s attentiveness to the community means iOS Pebblers with iPhones can now enjoy both their Kickstarter rewards and Pebble’s awesome iOS-compatible apps. We’re glad to have Apple be a part of Pebble’s journey then, now, and into the future.

Earlier this week, the smartwatch pioneer openly blamed Apple and the App Store approval process for the delay. Backers of the Kickstarter project, which raised more than $20 million, began receiving their devices late last month.

No matter the reason, I’m glad to see Apple approve the new Pebble Time app. Even though the device competes directly with the Apple Watch, consumers should be able to decide which smartwatch is best for their needs.
