You Might Want to Hold Off Buying A Budget iPad Until March
If you’re in the market for a new budget iPad, it might be best to wait a few weeks before making a purchase.
French-based Consomac has uncovered filings for two new tablets from Apple with the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC). History suggests this means an iPad refresh is coming sooner rather than later. The entries represent model identifiers A1954 and A1893, which are described as Apple tablets running iOS 11.
Previously, rumors have suggested Apple plans to release new iPad Pro models in the second quarter of the year. This would suggest the two tablets mentioned above are updated budget models instead.
In December, DigiTimes reported Apple planned on introducing a lower priced iPad in 2018. The new 9.7-inch model could be priced as low as $259. The current budget iPad, which launched in March 2017, starts at $329.
Earlier this month, DigiTimes said Apple would likely introduce “new-generation iPhone, iPad and MacBook devices” next month. The most likely candidates for receiving an update include the iPhone SE and 9.7-inch iPad.
