During the final quarter of 2017, Dish-owned Sling TV had 2.21 million subscribers. In doing so, they are now the largest internet-based live TV service in the United States.

According to Sling TV, its over-the-top (OTT) internet service has grown by 47 percent year over year. First launched in early 2015, Sling TV had 623,000 subscribers during its first year, and 1.5 million by the end of 2016.

At 2.21 million subscribers, Dish-owned Sling TV is way ahead of the competition. DirecTV Now, which launched in 2017, has 1.2 million subscribers, compared to Sony’s PlayStation Vue’s 670,000, YouTube TV’s 300,000+ and Hulu Live TV’s 450,000.
