A Standalone Google Assistant App Is Now Available for the iPhone
As first rumored earlier this week, Google has announced that its Google Assistant app is headed to the iPhone starting today. You can download the app here.
Google made the announcement during its Google I/O keynote today in Mountain View, California.
Available for users in the United States, for now, Google Assistant is similar to Apple’s own Siri and Amazon Alexa. Previously, the feature was only available to iOS users through the Google Allo text chat app. It’s also found on Android devices and the Google Home speaker.
The conversational AI won’t be integrated as tightly as Siri on iOS devices but will give Apple users a nice look at the assistant. It’s smarter than the voice search found in the main Google app and understands things like follow-up questions.
