Apple Switches to Google for Spotlight, Siri Web Search Results
Apple has just made a major change to its default search provider for Siri, Search on iOS, and Spotlight on the Mac. Users will now see results from Google instead of Bing, the previous provider.
Here’s the statement Apple provided to TechCrunch about the change:
“Switching to Google as the web search provider for Siri, Search within iOS and Spotlight on Mac will allow these services to have a consistent web search experience with the default in Safari,” reads an Apple statement sent this morning. “We have strong relationships with Google and Microsoft and remain committed to delivering the best user experience possible.”
Any image search results are still from Bing for the time being.
The change to the Spotlight and Siri web search results should be live now for everyone.
