Apple is looking into the very small number of cases of iPhone 8 battery bulging. That’s according to a new report from TechCrunch.

Here’s more from the report:

Apple has now confirmed it is looking into it, although a spokeswoman declined to comment further when asked how many devices are affected.

Worldwide, there have only been six total reports of the issue affecting iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus units.

Judging from photos posted on social media, all the units look fairly similar with the battery bulging causing the handset casing to come apart.

But there shouldn’t be much reason to worry.

Along with the extremely small number of cases, none of the batteries caught fire. That’s a huge difference compared to the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 fiasco last year. Battery problems cause a number of fires, causing Samsung to eventually stop production of the handset after two recalls and a substantial amount of bad press.
