The Philips Hue White Ambiance lights are designed to help improve sleep patterns
Philips has just unveiled the newest member of the app-enabled Hue lighting family. The Hue White Ambiance lights are designed to help you better fall asleep and wake up and can deliver every shade of white light in the spectrum.
Start and end the day right
The White Ambiance starter kit will arrive sometime this spring.
Along with the Ambiance lights, Philips also announced some improvements to the companion Hue app. A forthcoming Routines feature will tie in with the lights. The wake up routine gently increases brightness to naturally wake you up in the morning on time. And at night, the sleep routine will gradually dim the lights until they switch off.
Parents should definitely be pleased that a new nightlight recipe will deliver a low level of light while minimizing exposure to sleep-bothering blue light.
A starter set – which includes two lights, a bridge compatible with Apple HomeKit, and a dimmer switch – will be available sometime this spring. No pricing information for the kit was announced.
One of the best ways to enjoy HomeKit
If you’re interested in HomeKit, the Hue lights should definitely be on the top of your list.
HomeKit is a protocol designed by Apple to make it easier for users to interact with the numerous smart home products flooding the market. The standout feature, so far, is the ability to control different devices with just a simple Siri voice command.
As long as you have a new version 2.0 bridge, all of the lights can be controlled using Siri on your iPhone, iPad, or Apple Watch. A voice command can do things like turn specific lights on or off, adjust the color, and activate the different lighting scenes.
The new bridge can be found with most new Hue lighting starter kits. It can also be purchased separately for $59.99 now.
