Yahoo Answers Now Has Its Very Own iOS App

It’s currently invite-only, though

Yahoo has launched a standalone iOS app for Yahoo Answers.

Yahoo Answers is, of course, the eponymous internet company’s popular, if comical, community-driven question-and-answer site. Considered as something of a knowledge market, it’s a place where users can ask all sorts of questions and provide all sorts of answers, especially questions and answers that otherwise could not be found on the web typically using a search engine.

Unfortunately, that Yahoo Answers is accessible to everyone leaves a lot to be desired in terms of the quality of its content. In particular, whether intentional or not, many answers tend to be rather dumb and end up as fodder for internet meme-dom.

At any rate, Yahoo Answers is now more accessible with the launch of its official iOS app, which competes with those of the likes of Quora and Jelly.

According to TechCrunch, the app had been called Yahoo Hive since its arrival for beta testing on the App Store until its recent rebranding, whereupon it’s now more recognizably called Yahoo Answers Now.

As might be expected, Yahoo Answers Now brings the key features of the Yahoo Answers website into a native mobile experience on iOS devices, specifically on iPhone and iPod touch for now. In a nutshell, the app lets users ask questions, provide answers, and search for both.

“The app has a few upgrades over the web version,” TechCrunch adds, “like the ability to upload photos, respond with emoji (similar to Slack), click a button to say ‘thanks,’ as well search the web for sources to include in your answers from the app itself.”

While the app has been on the App Store since June, its existence is yet to be officially announced by Yahoo. That the company hasn’t done so more than likely has to do with the fact that the app still requires an invite code.

If you’re interested in using Yahoo Answers Now, you may request an invite code by sending an email to yan-invites@yahoo-inc.com. After receiving your code, enter it the app to be able to sign in and start using it.
