Apple Supports World AIDS Day and (RED) With New Products and App Deals

November 30, 2016

Thursday, Dec. 1 is World AIDS Day. Apple is once again promoting the day by supporting the (RED) campaign by turning store logos red and offering special-edition products.

Twenty (20) of the most popular games on the App Store are offering exclusive (RED) in-app purchases, the proceeds of which go to the campaign’s Global Fund. Among the games included in this promotion in 2016 are Boom Beach, FIFA Mobile, MARVEL Contest of Champions, and Best Fiends.

Also, The Killers have released a new album, “Don’t Waste Your Wishes,” which is exclusively available on iTunes. The $10.99 album features 10 of the band’s previously released holiday singles, plus a new track, “I’ll Be Home for Christmas.”

All proceeds from each sale of the album and individual tracks featured will be donated to (RED). The album is available for free for Apple Music subscribers.

From Dec. 1 through Dec. 6, Apple is donating $1 to (RED)’s mission for every purchase made with Apple Pay at an Apple Store, on Apple.com or through the Apple Store app, up to $1 million. Bank of America will also make a donation for every Apple Pay transaction using its cards, also up to $1 million.

Finally, Apple customers can also donate directly to (RED) through iTunes. In the U.S., iTunes Movies is offering a free download of “The Lazarus Effect,” the documentary about the mission of (RED).

The gift of life is the most important gift that anyone can give. Thanks to the vision and dedication of (RED), an AIDS-free generation is within our reach. We want to leave the world better than we found it, and that’s why our longtime partnership with (RED) remains so important to us.

- Tim Cook, Apple CEO

Apple has raised more than $350 million for (RED) over the past 10 years.
