花山（かざん）天皇が都を治め、人と鬼(妖し)が共に生きていた時代。
鬼を恐れる人々を救うべく存在している陰陽師。その中でも1、2位を争う実力をもっているのが、政府公認にして国随一の陰陽師と名高い安倍晴明（あべのせいめい）と、民間ながら清明と互角の実力を持つといわれる葦屋道満（あしやどうまん）の2人である。
彼らの活躍により都は平和を保っているように見えた。
残酷な過去を背負い、たった１人の肉親をも殺され身寄りがなくなった主人公は、道満のもとで陰陽師見習として身を置いていた。いつか仇を取る、ただその思いだけを糧に、日々陰陽道を精進してきた。そして好機は訪れるー。
