App Store Description

This app has been created by ActionAid to easily enable citizens all over the world to map dangers in their cities, indicate the lack of essential public facilities and inform local authorities about what needs to be fixed for the city to become a safer and more inclusive space for all, and especially women and youth.

Using this app, you are able to tag 10 symbols and mark places as Red and Yellow onto a Google map. When you are done, click “send” and add the e-mail address to the public authority you would like to send the information to. Feel free to add a greeting to make your message more personal. The recipient will then receive a picture of the map with the symbols you’ve added, and thus clearly see what needs to be fixed and where.

The 10 symbols include lack of access to clean water, public toilets, lights, garbage and recycling, inconvenient vegetation, fair and uncorrupt police and judicial system, education, safe public transport, youth clinics and contraception, as well as safe spaces where women, youth and children can socialize safely and meaningfully.

Use the red marker to indicate streets and spaces that are unsafe due to social factors, for instance the presence of crime, violence and sexual harassment, gangs and prostitution. Use the yellow marker to indicate streets that are unsafe due to absence of sidewalks, irresponsible driving and i. e; tunnels and gangways that you normally avoid due to fear.

Thank you for contributing in creating safe and inclusive cities for all!
