App Store Description

Albany (WA) is a Travel & Tour guide for visitors that drive to Perth to Albany in the Great Southern Region
of Western Australia. The App provides GPS directions to numerous attractions in Albany and the many fascinating country towns and landmarks along the way. The app includes less travelled GPS routes through vast regions of open farm lands that lead to picturesque inland country towns such as Narrrogin,Wagin and Katanning, Kojunup, Cranbrook to Bremer Bay on the coast. The Visitor Centres enroute are pinpointed with GPS locations and contact information.

Visitors to Albany and the southern coast should not miss the Whale Watching season. This amazing spectacle of whales breaching the ocean occurs from the end of May to early October. Watch from the shoreline - or get much closer for guaranteed sightings and photo opportunities on a whale-tour boat.

Close by the City of Albany (52 kms) is Mount Barker - the administrative centre for the Shire of Plantagenet. The area is well known for its diverse agriculture and farming, outstanding wineries, and scented sandalwood. Nearby Mount Barker are excellent hiking trails including Bluff Knoll (the highest peak in W.A) and other significant peaks in the Stirling Ranges.

The Porongurup National Park with its quaint village style townsite, is on the doorstep of Mount Barker with boutique wineries and a short trail to Castle Rock (570m) with its world class viewing platform. Walkers to the various peaks are well rewarded with panoramic views of open farmlands to the coast.

The idyllic coastal town of Denmark with its pristine beaches and forests is just a short drive from Mount Barker or Albany. Walpole and the famous Valley of the Giants Treetop Walk is around 45 minutes from Denmark.

The Albany WA app includes the GPS locations of many Historic Buildings with directions to well preserved Heritage sites open to the public. The Albany Convict Gaol and Patrick Taylor Cottage (the State's oldest surviving dwelling) are well worth a visit. The App contains ANZAC (Australian and New Zealand Army Corps) brochures to help visitors explore Albany's former military significance and its strategic role during the First World War (a visit to the National ANZAC centre is highly recommended). Detailed ANZAC information includes an ANZAC Tour Guide with GPS locations to all ANZAC related landmarks.

The Albany WA app includes useful maps, current weather, and event calendars. There are Main Roads (Traffic alerts) a daily Fuel Watch (for a check on local and WA fuel prices),Parks and Wildlife alerts, WA Land & Marine severe weather warnings, and Bushfire alerts. The App receives live updates as you travel. There are GPS directions to a wide variety of popular and secluded Beaches found around Albany and Denmark (through to Bremer Bay) with GPS locations.

A Bluff Knoll Mountain weather forecast, mountain trail maps and Parks information is provided to assist walkers. There is a WA Bush Survival guide for those who wish to learn more of the risks and safety precautions when walking trails in W.A (Please note: the manuals are not a substitute for preparation, training and experience).
