When an appointment with a rented family member crosses a line with a client, a lonely university dropout must decide between keeping up appearances or dropping them. Meet Kya as she weaves in and out of the lives of lonely people working as a professional stand-in for the Alone Together Agency.
Conceived as a self-generated performance for your home and launched with a companion film, ALONE TOGETHER is an app for your phone in which you to play rented family members to lonely people. The app combines cutting-edge virtual human production, voice recognition, and artificial intelligence with theatrical storytelling and your interactions.
Inspired by the concept of a family rental agency that provides fake family members to lonely people seeking companionship, Alone Together offers unpredictable, seemingly spontaneous narratives and invites the audience member to take on one of the roles.
Brief yet emotionally arresting, innovative yet surprisingly familiar, the project is accessible and inclusive in ways that traditional culture sometimes fails to be.
