Hi - we’re Amigo Loans! And we like to do things a little differently.

When we started Amigo, it was because we were tired of seeing ordinary, good, honest people being shut out by banks and other mainstream lenders because their credit scores weren’t good enough.

We’re all human, and we understand mistakes can happen. So instead of making lending decisions based on ‘perfect’ credit scores, or charging an APR of over 1,000% like some other lenders... we decided to ask borrowers to provide a guarantor for their loan instead.

A guarantor is someone that knows you well, and trusts you to make the loan repayments, but would be happy and able to step in and make any you did not. By providing a guarantor, it means you could get the money you need at an affordable rate - even if you don’t have the best credit score.

Fast forward a decade and we’ve now helped over 400,000 people access the money they need (many of whom had been turned down elsewhere).

Borrower criteria:
• A UK resident
• Aged 21-75
• Not on an active bankruptcy, IVA or equivalent or a Debt Management Plan
• Have a minimum income of £800
• Able to afford the loan repayments and pass our affordability checks.

When you make an application we’ll carry out our checks and will ask you to complete an online budget plan. Don’t worry, we don’t mind if you don’t have the perfect credit score, we just want to make sure the loan repayments are right for you and your situation.

Guarantor criteria:
• Aged 23-75
• Have a UK address
• Be a homeowner or have a good credit score with a history of paying their bills on time
• Have a minimum income of £800
• Are able to afford the monthly repayments if you don't pay and pass our affordability checks
