APPendicitis Light

APPendicitis is a tool to calculate the probability of appendicitis.

The development of this calculator was based on a non published prospective trial with 126 patients with abdominal pain at the Emergency Unit of Hospital de Clínicas de Porto Alegre - Brazil. Each factor used in this app was derived from a logistic regression analysis. Continuous data (age, days of symptoms, WBC count) were analyzed using a Receiver Operating Characteristic. Differently from traditional analysis, all points of the curve were considered, and their likelihood ratio used. Results presented here are probabilities and may not have external validity. The responsibility of the patient's treatment is exclusive of the assistant physician. This project was approved by local IRB HCPA 10-0486.
