With this app you are able to look at digital works from more than 20 international artists, in both Ehrenhof and Hofgarten in Düsseldorf. Additional works will be shown at satellite projects in Cologne and Essen. From August 22, 2021 until February 2022, the NRW-Forum Düsseldorf will host the world’s first AR Biennale. Artists such as Lola Zoido, Jeremy Bailey, Manuel Rossner or Shawné Michaelain Holloway have developed site-specific works to be explored in the Park for the first time.
Augmented reality is one of the most important topics of the future. More and more companies are launching new technologies. It is not only in digitally networked smart factories, medicine or the entertainment industry that the possibilities of digital reality augmentation are already being used. Many contemporary artists have also discovered this fusion of analog and digital worlds and the manifold opportunities for interaction.
With this globally unique project, the NRW-Forum Düsseldorf is offering a prominent platform to augmented reality art. The AR Biennale will create a new outdoor digital sculpture park every two years.
Using the App, you are able to position yourself next to a huge polished steel bean by Jeremy Bailey or plant your own digital flower garden (work by Lola Zoido) in the Hofgarten in Düsseldorf. For those of you who are more into ballet and dance, there are seven little fairies dancing on top of your hands (or on the grass), realized by the Ballett am Rhein. Meanwhile in the Ehrenhof a worm-like creature hovers in the air, designed by Theo Triantafyllidis, who is interested in starting a conversation with you.

During the opening weekend, from 21-22.08.2021, the app is free of charge. From 23.08.2021, some content will be subject to a charge (in-app purchase).
