Please Note: Your skill level, general physical ability, the season, and the weather can all impact significantly on your experience. Please check accessibility and expected conditions before heading out. Arctic Circle Gateway 97 has friendly advice and recent information on our arctic conditions.
Length of trail: 12 km of variable terrain.
Time frame: 6 hrs – 2days. We suggest to, at least, make a day of it. It is possible to enjoy an overnight stay and take in the northern nights (own overnight equipment required).
What you need to bring: Fluid, first and foremost. Appropriate footwear & clothing for the season, prevailing & expected weather conditions, camera & remember your trail map.
What may be useful: A better camera! mobile phone, food, sun protection, sunglasses, insect repellent &/or protection, extra &/or alternative clothing, toilet paper, knife, Compass or GPS, matches or lighter, binoculars, cooking items, appropriate winter gear.
What is available during the hike: water, shelter, prepared wood, fireplace, axe, toilet, various berries (summer & autumn), mushrooms (see below).
For your safety: Be aware the Arctic weather can change dramatically and quickly. Temperatures may vary between +30 to -40 depending on the season. Refrain from consuming anything you are not absolutely sure of for e.g. mushrooms. Simply take a photo instead. Avoid drinking still, slow flowing, or warm water. Ensure the water you use is fast flowing and cool. Emergency number is ‘112’, & take a first aid kit.
Regulations: Allemansrätten, hunting, firearms, fishing, access and other regulations exist. If unsure simply enjoy nature, leave nothing but your footprints and take away good memories and great photos.
You will walk in Laplands Serri Nature Reserve so make time to read the information boards or visit www.lansstyrelsen.se.
Thank you for visiting Lapland!
