This app is an original type of electronic book. It is not an iBook as such, but is instead an app that provides access to the book “Archaeologics. The reason lost”, by Felipe Criado-Boado and published in 2012 by Edicions Bellaterra (Barcelona, Spain). It is a tool for exploring this text that transforms it in a user-defined encyclopedia or reference work, making it possible to navigate through its content from a tag cloud. As such, it is a creative development that has so far not existed in the e-publishing sector.

The text deals with themes of archaeological theory, the conditions of possibility of archaeological knowledge and the theory of interpretation. It proposes an innovative approach towards the construction of meaning in societies characterized by multivocality and multiculturalism, in which the necessary regard to forms of knowledge belonging to different communities and groups of interest collides with scientific knowledge. The text seeks a solution to avoid the relativist and solipsist subjectivism.

This app will be useful to persons interested in archaeology, history, cultural studies or cultural heritage, as well as in the interdisciplinary dialog in humanities and social sciences.
