App Store Description

This application is intended to help medical students, doctors, nurses, medical professionals or other interested in developing their auscultation skills as well as their understanding on phonocardiograms. The application includes real heart sound recordings from over 50 paediatric patients with diagnosis validated by a cardiologist and an echocardiogram.

The heart sound recordings in the application are real recordings recorded with an Thinklabs One electronic stethoscope in a clinic. The quality of the sounds are top notch but have intentionally been left with occasional breath sounds and noises to give an realistic view of auscultation, i.e. real practice on the subject!

The application includes a study module for the most common defects and an extensive practice sections where you can try to diagnose the patient only by auscultation. The practice section is done with and without visual aid of a phonocardiogram signal, in order to enforce learning and understanding of the sounds. Also there is a quick start or help section for the user who is new to auscultation and phonocardiograms.

SUMMARY:
- 50+ paediatric patients
- 200+ heart sound recordings
- 20+ quality pictures of heart defects

NOTE!
- A (completely free) user account is needed for using the app. Why? We would like to learn how to teach auscultation and therefore we collect data of the use of the application. This helps us improve the application and possibly conduct academic research on the topic.
- Be aware that heart sound samples are downloaded in the "PRACTICE" section from an external server. Therefore internet use can be "heavy" if the user uses the practice section extensively.
