BABY USER INTERFACE teaches INFANTS one important concept: An iPad (& iPhone & iPod) will RESPOND to their touch, shake and rotation in a consistent manner.
Watching my infant quickly lose interest in apps aimed at children, I found that:
- A simple "tap" gesture is more complicated than we realize... the finger must not move between being placed down and picked up.
- A baby won't notice if their other hand is touching the screen, blocking any interactivity unless the app supports multi-touch.
- A baby won't know to touch a specific object on screen, so an app must respond to touch anywhere.
Between age of 3 months and 12 months, my son found Baby UI to be the most captivating interactive app on our iOS devices.
Then, between 12 and 18 months he lost interest in Baby UI and was able to appreciate more complex apps available from other developers. I believe Baby UI accelerated this process by offering a frustration-free app for his experimentation.
BABY UI is a great way to introduce your infant to your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch.
