BeaconID is a mobile decoder for 15-digit Hex IDs used in ELTs, EPIRBs, and PLBs operating on the 406 MHz emergency band. This unique Hex ID is used by Search and Rescue personnel when the emergency beacon is activated and detected by the COSPAS-SARSAT system of satellites and ground stations.
BeaconID recognizes the coding protocol employed by the emergency beacon and extracts all relevant encoded information, which can include:
Protocol type
Device type (ELT, EPIRB, PLB)
Country of registration
Red/green flag to indicate if country is part of the International Beacon Registry Database (IBRD)
24-Bit aircraft address
Aircraft tail mark for Canadian ELTs (C-****)
Type of auxiliary homing device (121.5 MHz, etc.)
Beacon manufacturer, model, date of device approval
Serial #
MMSI #
Aircraft operator designator
BeaconID customizes the decoded output to eliminate unused fields and provides a simple, elegant information display.
