App Store Description

BIKE BOX is a free, open-source app that lets you listen to and record site-specific audio while you ride your bike. This app is one part of a Locative Media art project named Bike Box.

We designed BIKE BOX to encourage personal, poetic, and spontaneous audio responses to locations and places that hold meaning to the user. To encourage mobility, exploration, and discovery, we designed BIKE BOX so that the audio can only be listened to or attached to a location by physically going there. When you arrive at a place where you'd like to record audio, just hit the 'record' button. You can preview your recording, then upload it to the BIKE BOX database. Your audio is automatically geo-tagged, and within seconds, it will appear on your BIKE BOX map, available for listening to anyone who rides by with the BIKE BOX app. The app thus lets you both explore and create an audio landscape while you ride around town.
